Final Update on Lewis Creek Watershed Aquatic Invasive Species Management Plan and Boat Launch Steward Initiative

This project successfully completed an aquatic invasive species survey of the Lewis Creek watershed, including Bristol Pond, Monkton Pond, and Lewis Creek, with results in an online map format at https://bit.ly/3g5Sr5V. The boat launch steward program created 570 or more interactions to educate the public about aquatic invasive species and how to minimize spread. It also removed aquatic plants from 63 boats, including 32 that were leaving Bristol Pond with Eurasian Watermilfoil on them (and could possibly introduce this invasive plant to other waterbodies). We authored two press releases (see below on this page). Finally, the project created a management plan for the Lewis Creek watershed, including Bristol Pond and Monkton Pond, which will help identify future actions that can be taken to control invasives in the watershed. We look forward to progressing some of these projects forward in the coming years in conjunction with partners.
